Description:
JUMP Math is a Canadian charity dedicated to enhancing the potential in children by encouraging an understanding and a love of math in students and educators.
This session will introduce you to the unique teacher resources ( Free online) and we will explore the features of a JUMP Math lesson that is structured to support your teaching practice, so you can help every child succeed in math.

-    Mental math strategies - how to teach and assess these skills.
-    "Confidence Building" units.
-     IEP?s using our SMARTBOARD resources for creating effective interventions
-    Problem Solving units - JUMP Math is delighted to offer insights and materials to challenge and excite both teachers and students

Bio:
Liz Barrett, born and educated in South Africa, studied at Cape Town Teachers' College, then furthered her teacher education studies at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and Simon Fraser University, Canada. Liz has taught for 23 years and has worked with Dr John Mighton, founder of the charity JUMP Math Canada for the last 15 years. Liz also does math outreach for the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. Recently honoured by INDSPIRE, she was awarded the INDSPIRE Award, Partner in Indigenous Education for her work in Indigenous communities in Canada. Helping teachers to enjoy teaching math is the privilege that her work allows,as an Outreach Manager for JUMP Math.
Building teacher confidence is the secret to success and supporting communities and schools across Canada is what she loves about most about her work.
